5 October 2016, Barnes SW London SW14 Rick Stein and Jill Stein’s Stein’s Trading Ltd is excited to announce the acquisition of Tideway Restaurants Ltd, which completed on Monday 3rd October 2016.
After 30 years of trading, the directors of Tideway Restaurants Ltd who operated on Mortlake High Street, Barnes, London SW14 have decided to retire. The business will continue to employ the full 40-strong team and will run the restaurant in its current form until the end of the December before a refurbishment in the new year.
The Depot Brasserie is nestled in Tideway Yard, a renovated Victorian cobbled courtyard with a secluded south-facing entrance patio. This forms part of an award-winning conversion by Marston Properties, the fourth-generation family-owned property management and development business which developed Tideway Yard 30 years ago. The Depot is in a prime leafy riverside location, whose high ceilings and conservatory running the length restaurant frames magnificent views of the Thames at the finishing line of the annual Oxford and Cambridge Boat Races.
Rick Stein comments “I’ve often been asked if I’ll ever have a restaurant in London, and to be honest, I’ve always said I wouldn’t; but when I went to have a look at The Depot it struck me how perfect a place it was: overlooking the Thames, being wonderfully close to central London but far enough out to feel like you’re in your own community, a little village almost. I watched people popping in on their way home from work, escaping the hustle and bustle of city life to sit back, have some food and a good bottle of wine and relax. It’s such an exciting opportunity and one that we wanted to accept with pleasure.”
Caroline Marston, Managing Director and great-granddaughter of the founder of Marstons Properties, says:
“We’ve loved working with The Depot for over the last thirty years and know what an important local hub it has become for both residents and the working community . Marstons are also celebrating 30 years of stewardship of Tideway Yard and this change in ownership is an exciting prospect for the next generation . It is thrilling to welcome Stein’s Trading to the area.”
