Accredited Landlords for ten years

Marston Properties reaches the ten year anniversary of being an Accredited Landlord

Joining the Accredited Landlords scheme requires us to have at least one ‘accredited’ member of staff in the residential lettings department – we go a step further and ensure ALL our residential lettings staff are accredited. This means we are all up to date with changes in legislation – which are many and frequent.

Each accreditation certificate lasts for five years and requires 12 continuous professional development points (CPD) annually for each individual.

Challenges over the last few years have included:

- Ensuring that all properties to let meet the required EPC standards by April 2018 and issuing the Certificate to tenants when they move in to the property 

- Ensuring all deposits are correctly registered and returned

- Ensuring every new tenant is issued with the most up to date ‘How to Rent Guide’ before the tenancy begins

- Ensuring gas safety certificates are issued when tenants move into the property. 

We also need to reissue all the documentation again on renewal. Failing to issue the right documents at the right time can hold up issuing a notice to vacate, which we need to do occasionally when a property needs refurbishing.


Our latest challenge has been delivered to us by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham requiring us to license 53 of our Fulham properties.
